Damaged tyre bead

Was cycling home this evening when suddenly found the front wheel starting to judder against the brake blocks, and then within 20 seconds or so, suddenly, there was a loud pop/hiss. Never had a blow out before in years of cycling, but first time for everything.

Anyway, it wasnt a really full on blowout, but it was enough to distort the tyre (700x32 Marathons) and when I came to change the tube, I found the tyre bead itself had slightly ruptured - probably a 2-3 inch small tear right at the wired base of it. They were brand new only a couple of months ago, and have only had a few hundred miles put on them. Anyway, I'm guessing that now the tyre wall is compromised that its game over and time to replace?

Like I say, I've never had this problem before nad have fitted loads of tyres over the years. Any ideas what could have caused this?

Cheers

Sounds like brake block alignment to be the cause.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
