None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

    The bill so far:

Argos Cycles are re-brazing the crack in the frame @ £40. Then I will have the frame powder coated @ £50.

Being painted by Argos bought the price up to £186 in total....bit too much for a commuter bike.

My bum is all functioning correctly, just doing the paperwork after the deed is somewhat painful.....

I am thinking about another colour - the old Cambridge blue is a bit 'ghey' to be honest. I may go with Imperial Purple (Club colors) or Flat Black......not sure yet.

I just cut off the braze ons from my surly frame, so, it may be 2 frames being powder coated.....hoping for a discount!

If you go for the same colour, yes, if not, then you'll be lucky.

Carthage. Apparently he (Cato) used it to end speeches whether they were about Carthage or not. Perhaps we should have:

You knew more than me. I used Google translate to come up with that last one. I think it works, just about.

There is a place in Nailsea doing powder coating called ABC. From memory £50 frame

I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Cheer Redvee - I looked at those guys at ABC, but heard that they apply quite a bit of powdercoat. I wanted a thinner layer - RPC in Bristol do it for the same price and Andy @ RPC is a keen cyclist, hopefully he will be quite adept at refurbing a classic frame without making it the same weight/blotchiness as a killer whale!

You're going to want to spend a lot of time colour sanding the frame with ultra fine wet and dry under running water after coating and then applying some top end car wax (autoglym is ace) for that super slick finish. A lot of elbow grease but totally worth it unless your coater is absolutely top-notch.

Unfortunately the margins in powder coating have dwindled to almost nothing (a number of my customers have dropped the process because of this) so a lot are being fairly slap-dash these days.
