Good or Bad Idea?

I have just under a year until I leave school now and the exams are understandably getting tougher and tougher every month. I'm finding that my week day afternoons and weekends are being submerged by revision session after revision session which obviously leaves me little time to get out on the bike.
To stop myself from loosing all known sanity, I give myself from when I get back from school (4:00pm) to 5:00pm to just relax and maybe watch a bit tv before I get stuck in with revision.
I live in a cul-de-sac which is opposite to this long road that goes right past a forest and many fields. It's really long and good for flying down fast on your bike.
So, my idea was that in this hour period that I normally relax, I could go for a short quick cycle down this road, really pushing myself to the limit whilst doing so. All together this quick ride is a mile long.
Would it be good for me to do this every night or every other night, in terms of keeping me fit? Or should I try and make time at the weekends (doubling up on revision during the week, not cutting it out all together) for a long 30 mile + ride?

An aspiration to keep fit is pretty broad...
Chris Carmichael (Lance Armstrong's Coach) has produced a book for cyclings who have very little time to train which is based around short duration high intensity efforts. I've not read it but I think each session takes about an hour.
if you have no specific cycling objectives just yet, or no time for any...then getting out when ever you can will help. That said if your planning to do a mile long blast at close to 100% effort then you should probably be warming up for at least 15 minutes, and doing a bit of a cool down too.
I've managed to train for 10 to 15 hours per week whilst revising for my profession exams a couple of years ago. That said all i did was eat, sleep, work, revise and train. Ultimately it all comes down to how much effort you want to put into your cycling/keeping fit and there are no right or wrong answers there!

A one hour break exercising will do you more good and de-stress you more than in front of the telly - but - Study - pass your exams - get a good job - buy nice bikes (it's a long life after school days).0

+1 to that. What about a short blast to de-stress before some study and save longer rides as a treat when you have stuck to a deadline for coursework, revision etc. We're not all the same but why not write out a plan come timetable and try to stick with that. In terms of priorities... work, training, telly. Good luck Josh.0
