I have just read and article about Wendy H riding for the GB team. Is this legal? she is, after all, from Northern Ireland, which is not, legally, part of GB.

Now, if we were sending Team UK to the Olympics, that would be a different matter entirely

Could be a problem, certainly. Unless you actually read the rules, of course...

She could choose to represent the republic instead (although UCI rules may mean she'd have to sit out of competition for quite awhile) but she's certainly eligible to represent GB. The representation as GBR was decided in 1908.

I know, if the original troll had any sense that would be the way he'd have gone. Mind you, having a passport stating you are a British Citizen probably qualifies you (at least if you have always been eligible for it) ;)

Troll, sir? Troll? You do me a severe injustice.

I'll have you know that I was concerned that the poor lady might arrive at the Olympic Velodrome and find herself ejected by an Olympic jobsworth.

To be fair, if that was going to happen at any Olympics, it would be the London ones!
