Upgrading is it worth it

Hey guys,
Trying to get back into road cycling since I have moved and have no decent MTB trails near me.
I picked up a great original Giant TCR 2001 on ebay for £210 that came will full campy daytona on, I'm looking to drag the bike kicking and screaming up to a more 2010 look by replacing all the groupset and the wheels.
I can sell these Daytona parts for pretty much the price I can get the centaur black/silver replacements on ebay.
Would you say a 10 year younger Centaur part is a decent upgrade over the daytona gear or am I doing nothing more than bastardising a original decade old bike for the sake of looks.
