Transporting a carbon full susser

These might be silly questions but when you dont know the answer the best approach is to ask...so help please.
i have recently bought a lapierre zesty carbon frame ( and i love it but that is besides the point). so far i have just thrown it in the back of the car but now that summer is coming and i will have to throw children and dogs in the car i need to know what is the best way to carry the bike on the outside of the car.
1 with a full susser do you protect the forks from rain when traveling? on the basis that at 70 mph you are effectively doing the same as power washing the bike.
2 what is the best way to attach the bike to a carrier? my preference would be to put it on a roof carrier like the thule 591 but is there any risk of damaging the bike?
3 any other suggestions that might help? i did consider putting the kids and the dogs in the roof box or even just strapping them directly to the roof bars but the noise would probably be horrible:)
thanks in advance

1 nope but it can't hurt.
2 A Thule 561 is good."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Just driven 900 miles with 2 bikes on a halfords bike carrier. No issues.
70mph on a motorway in wet weather is NOT the same as power washing a bike, which run at far higher pressures.
Roof mounted carrier is probably best from a 'scratch free' point of view compared to a rear mounted bike rack. There's less contact with the bike frame with a roof mounted carrier.Cool, retro and sometimes downright rude MTB and cycling themed T shirts. Just MTFU.
