About 3/4 into a ride this morning my RH shifter stopped responding. Got home and had an investigation. Seems that the shifter mechanism will only work when there is absolutely no cable tension. Is it dead, anyone have any experience of a similar issue?

Better check the date of purchase for Warranty too, got a horrid feeling that it's already expired though.

Does nt sound good no, Try giving Fisher (SRAM UK distributor) a call/e-mail. They re a bit slow, but they get there in the end...

try oiling it first. the pawls are only lightly sprung and might not be gripping.
  • Stripped, cleaned and relubed the entire unit and it still wouldn't work with any cable tension. Gave Fisher a call, who told me to take it to my LBS. LBS then gave them a call and with 15 minutes had sorted out a replacement - despite being out of warranty, this is apparently a known issue they're sending a new one.

Props to SRAM for quick (and nice) customer service.
