  • hi, there is abbyfield woods, near Oakhampton.

A downhill trail near Tavistock: http://www.gawtongravityhub.co.uk/

or a nice trail run from the back of the plume of feathers pub at Princetown that runs down to Burrator Resivoir.

as far as dartmoor goes, get a map, stick a pin in it and off you go! lots of old paths and bridleways.

I'm going to be in North Devon for a while, anyone know of some trails near barnstaple/Braunton? and the first person who says the tarka trail will get shot!

Gawton for some excellent DH as I understand it (yet to do it), Haldon for boring family fun. They're the only trail centres of sorts.

Everything else of interest is trail and dirt areas here and there, and the odd bit of open land (mainly Dartmoor). Not sure about Cornwall though.

Dartmoor - technically boring if you stick to the rules as to where bikes are supposed to go in a national park. Ignoring that, there's tonnes of stuff. Not trail centre stuff, natural trails, open land, bleak moorland, woods, paths, rocks, bridleways, all kinds. Huge area, easy to get lost and watch out for dodgy weather. Map, compass / GPS (with good charge).
