My lovely duff x9 is gitting on my tits. So before I go north wards next week I plan on getting a new one.

All things being Equals, The x9 is better then the x7

But will the 2012 x7 be better then then 2011 x9??

I think there's little difference between them with the mechs and sure I heard the tech from previous year's top models were filtering down.

I know X9 and X0 are only different in amount of carbon and huge price difference. My X0 came with the bike and will be replaced with X9 or X7 if I break it.

Shifters on the other hand, from all I've read, X9 is way better than the X7.

Thanks m8. Well get the x7 i guess.

one thing is there any reason a long cage would be better then a mid??

I dont ever plan to go back to 3-10 but never say never :P

As long as the mech has the required range then t does not matter. I it does not have the range yo will not be able to use some gears.

Dropping a mech size has been better for me with chain tension, hence I'm on mid for my 2x10 allowing for suspension, and short on my 1x10 hard tail.
