Carrera Vengeance vs Carrera Titan LE FS

Hi there MTB enthusiasts
I am looking to purchase a new bike and I've got £300 to spend.
I don't know what bike I should go for, I am going to use the bike everyday and would like to take it off road a couple of times a week (trials and downhill where possible...as I live in london)
There was no review for the titan full sus bike and I thought I should ask here before making my choice.
So should I go for the hardtail vengeance or the full sus titan.
I'm looking for quality and usability (looks are important as well)
Other brands considered

Venegeance without a doubt - the Titan is heavy, undamped and will perform badly.
Neither are downhill bikes though.0 -
What do u mean when u say undamped, its a fill suspension bike...are the parts bad0
-
Very bad, basically useless. Riding an undamped fork or shock is like riding a pogo stick.
And when you say downhill, do yopu mean riding down hills, or Downhill, for which you need something like this:

I'm looking to get an everyday bike with something a little special, for going down trails, woodland and basic offroad...I don't mean downhill as in the competiton...but having fun offroad, and my budget is £300.
Are the shocks of the carrera titan that bad?0 -
Yes. I had a bounce on one while waiting to be served in Halfords. It is not up to even mild off road, it's an offroad style bike. To get a worthwhile, bottom end, budget, last years model full suspension bike you need to triple your budget. I spent nearly as much as the Titan costs just on getting higher spec dampers fitted in my forks.
Vengance is far better and at least has some (limited) off road ability.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Ok,
so you guys say that the shocks suck what about the frame and if I wanted to upgrade sus later on would the titan be a viable choice (coz i realy like the look )
And if the answer is NO!
what about these contenders:
**Saracen Tufftrax
**GT Aggressor 3.0
**Fuji Nevada 4.0
Shin some light on the matter....i feel so lost
thank you guys0 -
The answer is no, it is a pile of crap.
The best bike for this money is this:

thank you very much for the advice, I am going to consider it...looks gr8 as well...
I would like to thank you again and if there were points on this forum I would have given you full marks0 -
Lol, sometimes have to get straight to the point ;-)
Damping is usually a hydraulic cicrcuit in the fork the controls the movement and stops it bounmcing out of control.0 -
Ok i get it now, coz I'm kinda new to this and dont know the lingo
Do you know if I order it online will I have to assemble it myself?0 -
Usually are 90% assembled - fit bars and pedals, and adjust/check bolts.0
-
also the size of the bike is small, im 5'9'' and i dont know if that would be an appropriate size for me...sorry to bother you0
-
Hard to say! Might have to visit a shop and try one.0

Hi mate,
I've looked online and the mongoose tyax elite 2011 you suggested is out of stock in all websites, they only have a small size frame which does not suit me.
Can you suggest another good bike, I've now increased my budget to £400.
I really liked the mongoose but can't get it anywhere.0 -

Decathlon are the only place to buy Rockriders, and they have lots!
That Lardrock is one of the better in the range but still a way behind the RR.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
