My poor old knees

A couple of months ago i got my bike fitted to me at the LBS, as it never felt right. Now it feels great, change of seat height, saddle, bars and cleats moved, bars moved and plenty of advice. So ive been out more this year than all of last year. But my knees are killing me, not on the bike but off. My question is do you think this is my increase in mile, my bike or my favourite the shoes and peddals, which are the mountain bike type and seam to have a bit of play and require a bit of a twitst to get out of, i got these as i had trouble clipping into the original keos and these allow me to clip in both sides.Any thoughts greatfully recieved.

What kind of problem are you having with your knees? There are a number of reason for knee pain including poor position or biomechanics, existing injuries or chronic conditions or just knackered joints! If you are having side- to-side pain, then it could be due to excessive rotation/ poor tracking /poor cleat position and worth getting more specialist help.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

firstly: Keo's have you tried changing the colour of your cleats - there are 3 - giving different amounts of rotational play
secondly: a very simple thing would be to try and raise you saddle a small amount -

Its like tooth ache in both my knees at the front, mostly at the bottom outside edge of both knees, worse on the stairs but constant, but not noticable on the bike. I have had knee probs over the years, one at a time though, not both, due to being a 16st runner( no probs last year doing or training for the Birmingham Half).I think you may be right, may need specialist help. Will run it past the LBS first and let them move my position around. Cheers for your thoughts.

That sounds like ITB to me. Tight ITB can be helped by foam rolling but its likely you have some sort of biomechancal issue going on. You might benefit from some orthotics - thats what I had to do.

IT band, could be,i dont do much stretch.I think i just need a rational order to try these thing so i know which is causing the problem.
