Hi,

Having trouble setting my bike up as 10 speed. I have set up the gears so they shift nicely all the way through from 11t but won't click on to the 36t (easiest) ring on the rear cassette. Regardless of limit screw position, the rear mech looks like it wont physically shift far enough across to kick the chain onto the 10th ring. Im at a loose end and might just have to stick to my 9 speed 34t set up. I know its not much of a difference but every little helps on those big hills eh!!

Im running a 32t single ring up front:

What happens if you add more tension to the cable and back the stop screw off?

  • I would start by using your hand to operate the rear derailleur and physically push it upto no1 cog if it engages by hand you will be able to operate it with the shifter.
also if the b-tension screw is wound in too far that would stop it getting up to a 36tooth cog

    is the chain too short?
  • Backing off the stop screw and adding more tension appears to have worked. Thank you very much!!
