Do bikes have feelings???

OK, so I've had my trusty old Falcon for 20 years, never any real issues with it but it was getting a bit long in the tooth, bought myself a nice new modern bike, much lighter and faster.

Since the moment the new bike arrived the old Falcon has given me nothing but Jipp, I use it to commute and the first day the derailleur wraps itself round the back wheel, swap it out for another derailleur and the freewheel decides to collapse into small pieces, change out the whole wheel for another and get a puncture, fix the puncture and the gear cable snaps.

Jealousy is not a good thing, am beginning to think I should threaten it with permanent retirement!!!!!

You need to sit down with and explain that, like when parents have a second child, it doesn't mean you care about it less.

Give it a wash and maybe a little polish.

My car's engine always runs better when I've washed the outside and bikes are the same. :)

It's asking for a full strip down, re grease and rebuild - and it deserves it! Bet you've not done that before...... just abused the poor faithful bike over 20 years and then you think you can just dump it in the corner while you enjoy the new, younger model. You don't deserve a new bike......

If you don't treat it properly, it will probably eat your new bike one night. You'll go into the garage and find the new one gone and the old one feeling heavier than you can remember it being!
    Faster than a tent.......

truth be told me on old falcon vs new bike is a straight win, hands down, me and the old fella have done more miles than any bike I'll ever have, me and the falcon are one and the same

You really shouldn't try to anthropomorphize inanimate objects. They don't like it.
I may be a minority of one but that doesn't prevent me from being right.

That's it I totally give up, needed to be somewhere yesterday but didn't want to leave the new bike locked up somewhere, took my old bmx, got a puncture half way there. So I needed something I could ride to work today so I dragged out my MTB, cleaned it up and headed off, chain snapped.

Going to quit bikes and take up the pogo stick, much less to go wrong.
