Help with cleats!

I'm alittle puzzled!

I've used/have shoes with three bolts for old Leo cleats
And also have shoes with two bolts for my double entry SPD pedals but
I bought some northwave shoes from eBay and they have holes for four bolts.
The positioning is good for my SPD cleats but the bolts are too wide and don't fit.
I know speedplay shoes have four bolts but does anyone know if the bolts are slimmer than my look keo or spd's

I can put up pictures if this would help

I think someone asked this before. I think it is an old shimano standard that was phased out or something like that as I remember. Although I may have made that all up.
  • Cheers. I don't even mind help that's made up! I was puzzeled.
I'm just going to make shift an old plate in the sole or just tap a new one then.
