Having ventured over the dark side to post a question I felt completely out of place and duly returned to where I feel most at home in the MTB section!

Have a hybrid question... If I may;

I know with the boardman Mtb's you can't really get alot better value for money is this the same with the boardman hybrids? My manager has £500 to spend and has been looking at boardman comp @ £499 and I kinda suggested this would be best bang for buck without doing any real research...

    Pretty much, if it is a sporty road type hybrid you want (they vary). Take a look at the Giant Defy series too.

    For that price yes. If they want to spend less then the Carrera Gryphon is pretty good to and light.

    The Giant Rapid is the flat bar version of the Giant Defy and worth looking at but is even closer to a road bike than the Boardman. They are both kind of flat out, go fast bikes for someone who wants to ride hard though. Not to say you have to, but they beg you to ride them that way. They may not be to everyone's taste as they are closer to road bike than a true hybrid.

    The Specialized Sirrus is probably more of a true hybrid and a great bike but with some poor componentry for the money. Much more relaxed sit up and beg geometry if you prefer that though.

    Like most things Spesh really......the Carrera Gryphon us well worth a look, or for a more MTB like hybrid the Subway is well worth a look, I think it still has a hub geared option as well.
