Anyone know the French for "dishing" ?
"ma roue avant a besoin de bomber" is "my front wheel needs dishing" according to Google Translate...

The axle is not central in the hub i.e there is more thread showing on one side than the other :?
Will drop to the shop tomorrow morning and hope my SS build turns up tomorrow too for minimal downtime."Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

But if it was, the wheel would be central. The wheel is out by the same amount that the axle is off (if you know what I mean :? ) And it's out of alignment with the frame not just the fork."Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

It makes no difference because the dropouts butt up against the hub. The axle could be 10m long and make no difference to the wheel in the dropouts. Just a bugger to fit between trees.I don't do smileys.

Yeah right, of course. Well something's up. Think the hub could do with a service anyway and guess the wheel just needs to be dished (or "comparateur d'alignement de roues" as they say in this part of the world - cheers again for that link nicklouse!)

Just noticed my front wheel is also about 5mm out. Roughly how much does dishing cost as I need to work out whether it's worth doing. Thanks for your help. Pete.0

It needs doing as one side of the shell has lost the spoke tension so the wheel is not as strong as it should be.
