Ice Tools Chain Cutter Issues
Hi
I have an Ice Tools Chain cutter that I use to cut my 9 speed shimano chain.
The problem I am having is that the groove where the old pin sits isnt big enough, so when I break the chain and leave a small part of the old pin sticking out, I then can't get it back into the groove to ensure the chain sits at the correct position to slide the new pin in place.
Does this make sense??
What this means is that I have to bring the whole chain closer to the part which pushes the new pin in, but the angle has to be spot on, and quite often the guiding pin will snap before the actual pin has gone into the chain.
Has anyone else experienced this with the Ice Tools Pro chain cutter? if so, whats the fix????
Thanks

I mite be telling you to suck eggs here, but are you taking the chain off the chainrings at the front so that the chain isn't under pressure?0

Get a Sram or KMC joining link. And I do believe the term is 'splitter' as opposed to 'cutter'.More problems but still living....0
