Recommendations for the first road bike

Hi All, I would like to ask for your advice and recommendations. I am in the market to buy my first road bike! My budget is around $1,000, but I can probably go a few hundreds above this if it's really worth it. I will be happy to hear all your recommendations. Thanks in advance!

    You'd be best posting this in Road Buying Advice or Road Beginners and add in what type of riding you want to do (leisure, race, sportive etc.)

    I would vote giant defy 1 or specilized secteur. I have friends who have both and like the giant alot! I ride a Bianchi Via Nirone 7 Tiagra, it retails for 1200, but you could probably find a deal! I freaking love my Bianchi.
