Anyone ride one?
I'm looking at one, and coming from a CAAD 9, as far as I can tell geo is exactly the same except for 20mm extra head tube height. I have about 20mm spacers on my CAAD currently so figure I'd end up in same position.
Anyone have any feedback on the fit of the CR1? Despite the 20mm extra head tube it doesn't look/feel too upright?

I have one and find it very comfortable, had it a couple of months now. Previously I suffered tight shoulders and neck pain on my other bike but have had no discomfort so far, in addition at risk of sounding like I am on my last legs I have lower back problem that seems to put me into spasms twice a year but I have not felt like this Will be an issue at all on the CR 1.I have spacers under stem of about 30 mm.
I find it quick and comfortable, very light and it can be found at a good price with decent equipment.you really need to try one, I felt comfortable on it as soon as I sat astride it and I did not even go look at it but at a different bike! It may be that my body shape is suited to the frame geometry, short legs with longer upper body, 5 11 and on a size 56 large.
Try before you buy or at least sit on one, the frame is ripe for upgrading and does not sit you up too much, head tube length seems to be midway between what I would call outright racers and more upright Spesh Roubaix.A good compromisekdh0 -
I have a cr1 comp thats been upgraded to campag Athena and loads of other bits, it's a great bike. I've used it for Cardiff to Paris over 4 days and it's very comfy and stiff enough when you want to climb or move on a bit.

Lovely bike, I love mine (although its the only CF I've got to compare it with). Geometry is notoriously comfortable but it can "go" if you want it to.
Supplied saddle is horrible though, I replaced with a Charge Spoon and my behind is much happier0 -
Got a bike fitting recently, apparently my 2009 CR-1 is "race geometry" but from 2010 onwards the CR-1 changed to "sportive geometry" as the Addict became the race bike, now replaced with the Foil. personally I have taken out the whole stack and cut down the steerer (40mm) and find it very comfortable anyway. The new ones must be pretty upright because I'm not in any radically low position.
Anyway FWIW I love it.0 -
I've got the 2012 CR1 Elite with SRAM Rival, lovely bike, comfy, quick and well specced for the money IMHO.
My missus has the 2011 CR1 Pro which is stunning to look at, equipped with Ultegra and Krysium Elites, as is my Elite.
Recommended by us, but its like all bikes, its what's right for you.0
