Giant XTC 3 Vs Cannondale Trail SL 2 (both 2011)

Hi there everyone, I am looking for some help please. I have narrowed my search for a new bike down to these two based on price and apparent quality of components. I have tried to read as many articles as possible but nothing is conclusive. In particular I can't find much, if anything about the RST Duece air 100mm forks.
Can anyone help me out that has either bike or even ridden both?
I am really only looking for a bike to ride on forest trails and nothing too serious. My budget is tight hence looking at last years models.
I am 6'1" and around 95Kg if that has any bearing on decision.

i have a large 2012 xtc 2. its a great bike, comes with a pretty decent spec with slx, deore and some xt componentry.

its easy to ride and very quick, holds speed well. i may be selling if you are interested.

You might find some links would be more use than a bump.

Out of those two the XTC would be my choice but for what you want I think a Giant Talon would be better, less of a race bike & more of a trail bike. You could spend the price difference on a better fork.
