My first new road bike in 25 years, just sort of decided it looked shiny shiny in the shop and was on budget for me. Test rode it and didn't bother looking anymore. Upgraded the wheels and the brakes, put bling tyres on. Love it.

It sort of replaces this although I'm not getting rid, plenty of life left yet.

Glen:'so the Scottish, the Welch and the Irish all have their own languages..so why don't the English have their own language?'

Love em both, Why do Black White and Red look so right on a bike.

I had the team Banana Raleigh many years ago, wish I kept it.

If you're anything like me, whilst appreciating the better ride you get from a new shiny bike with modern gear, you might find it hard to part with the old one, and want to do it up as well. STIs, respaced for 10spd drive-train, bling wheels and groupset, etc. Then the new bike becomes the functional bike and you get the Raleigh out for special sunny days. 8)

I am, I am. Would love to strip the frame and get a full recondition done. Thing is I'm a bit of a bad ass with an airbrush. For example I did this for my sisters Harley:

Think I could turn out a Heron themed Raleigh worthy of a Campy groupset and this bike has a lot of sentimental value as well as being a mint ride. Time and budget will tell. :)

Already done big man. 105 calipers straight away, the Tektro's are on the Raleigh now, the Aksions are new with a close ratio Ultegra cassette, the old wheels from the Caad fit the Raleigh too, but then again they also fit my Tricross.
