As the title states, basically my first road bike since I was a kid with my Raleigh Pursuit.

I've been collecting the parts for the last three months and finally she's now sorted. I took her for her first outing this afternoon and she's so much quicker/smoother than my old Boardman Comp Hybrid that I've been riding for the past year. Maybe now I'll be able to keep up with the group and climb off the bottom half of some Strava tabels.

Since my ride, I've moved the shifters up a little as they felt too low, I did feel more stretched out than on my Boardman but felt like I was able to cut through the gusts of wind a hell of allot easier.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with her!!!

Seriously good looking bike :) Like the curve of those seat stays, I wish you could get American Classic's without the red font - nothing personal - it's just my bike is black and white and I think would just look better for my bike without the red.

Yeah I agree, the design of the wheels would not suite some bikes. Generally I have a liking for more understated wheels but think/hope the AC's match up with the frame quite well. "The missus said they do, and so they must", who am I to argue :(

For what is essentially a first build that is a great effort, chapeau sir.
Not a fan of American Classics but they work well on your build.
    And 53 - 39 ? hardcore first build too !

    Cheers Galatzo.

53-39 is fine for me around these parts. However, I may regret it when I do the Cat and Fiddle again this year.

Looking great there Pete - you've made a lovely job of it. So have you put any more miles on her yet??

    Thanks Paul,

Just a few mile yesterday as the weathers been lousy today, and of course I'm reluctant to get her wet.

Nice looking bike there mate and pretty light too for a alloy frame. Just out of interest what size is the frame?
