Thems little tabs on brake pads

...you know the little triangular things that drop downfrom the brake pad, specifically on caliper brake pads...

what are they for? Just asking like....

    Meant to stop the brake shoe rubbing on your wheels when you wear the pads too low I think.

    To guide the wheel between the brake pads when replacing it.

    Add downforce when braking so you don't get front end wash out and can turn faster.

    Can you fit neon strips to them for that Vauxhall Nova look?
