Lithium - not the suppression of opium is what the fuss is about....... one of the worlds largest deposits in Afghanistan, and when the oil runs out, Lithium will be worth more than gold.

Yep. And other resources. All you need to know

Very interesting Article, Looks like the Vultures are circling to well and truely pick at the bones,

China and America competing for control, really dont like the sound of that.

But won't we need it to create dilithium?*

Anyway. Substitute lithium for any natural resource and I will believe that is the real reason. I find that sad.
Not only because it may be true but because history has taught me that being cynical should be the default setting.
EG I don't believe that either the UK or Argentina Governments have the Falkland's population best interests solely in mind.

    * Joke.

I don't think natural resources have nothing to do with the conflict, but I don't think it can be put down to natural resources solely, surely there are easier military wins all around the world?

Significant valuable resources, an important strategic location and a simple people who would be easily overcome by the world's greatest military superpower.

    Except they weren't...

I mean, aren't certain Americans accused of funding various Irish terrorist groups?

Yes. Americans used to fund the IRA. Hypocritical f***ers.

I imagine they did, but then again; Britain didn't instigate this "War on Terror" that we seem to be embroiled in nowadays.

The "War on Terror" started on 9/11 when the US found out very vividly what terrorism could do.
It was also the day that IRA funding ceased.

Tony Blair was quite happy to join George Bush in his "War on Terror" so we as a Country are far from innocent.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

That is what I was getting at. It took a terrorist act and atrocity like 9/11 for certain corners of America to cease funding terrorist attacks and atrocities in another country.

And it's all been conveniently brushed under the carpets.
