Anyone know whether this is trustworthy and works? I need to open a 3GS and have to wait 3 months and pay £15 with T mobile otherwise ......

It's similar to a cat chasing it's tail..

You can request carriers to unlock iPhones. O2 will do it, but read the T&C's and you're still obliged to complete the contract term.
Jailbreak them and then a software update comes out and the jailbreak and all the Cydia sourced Apps are history.
A new jailbreak eventually comes out, sometimes it takes days, but often it takes over a month for the new jailbreak revision to get released. So, re-jailbreak and bingo, you're back in business until a new IOS update is released.
  • or you could just not update the phone until the new jailbreak is released

Or just buy an Android phone :P

Trust worthy site surely, I mean they have this...

    ;)

Anyway, tried a random invalid IMEI in their "checker" - said, yeah I can unlock my iPhone (I don't have one, the IMEI was not just invalid for an iPhone but doesn't validate as any valid IMEI under the Luhn algorithm) !

Given that dubiousness I'd put it down as a scam site given the extents they go into saying it's all genuine, guaranteed, etc.

I'd check out forum.whatmobile.net for advice on legit or at least reliable ways of doing this stuff.

p.s. UK law doesn't say that operators have to allow unlocking. They're encouraged to do so, but some won't or at least not until end of contract. Apple on top do of course make things more complicated and restrictive. By unlocking, I mean SIM lock. Jailbreaking is a different thing entirely and very frowned upon by Apple of course. Don't think UK law helps any further here though.
