    I was fine?

Only, in real life, I'd have been going so slowly I'd have fallen off.

I'm riding in the gutter and still I get mowed down by a car!

If playing that game doesn't make you nervous, you are not paying attention.

 I just got a taste of what it's like to be a nodder!

I see them all in a new light now. Never again will I get angry if they wobble straight into my path or push themselves to the front of the queue at traffic lights.

So, the conclusion is that you're all terrible cyclists.

Someone tell the Daily Mail! :D

It's fun but I just don't ride my bike like that. Plus there was no sprint button to get you out of danger/chase other cyclists after the maneuver

What a crock. Has about as much to do with safe cycling as knitting. So all cars will just plough into you regardless?

I (just about) remember my cycling proficiency, I just don't see how this adds anything to practising in a school playground or on a quiet road.

It's lets the people doing the course say they've covered riding on main roads when they actually haven't?

It's aimed at a younger audience.

When I learnt to ride on the road I was 10, and to be honest, the cars were a bit like they are in that little game.

It was all about having loads of space to do your manoeuvre as far away to a car as possible. They're not expecting you to deal with three lane heavy congestion, filtering etc.

I get that, I just don't think it gives any real insight into what it's really like to execute those manoeuvres. It's only one step above a diagram.

    Everything's done on computers guys.

It's to replace the diagram :).

I think someone said "Hey! Kids like computer games don't they? Let's make one to teach them cycling safety". It smacks of trying to be down with the kids and I doubt the average 10yo raised on XBox et al will be much impressed by something so clunky.

It's more interactive than a diagram, isn't it?

And it's shows the when the sequence of things happen during a manoeuvre.

No kid thinks "OMG, this is better than CoD" about anything in school, nor do they need to.

I was raised on a Spectrum, and I'm in no way impressed. I mean, Paper Boy was much better, and you got chased by dogs.
