Very nice! Although personally I'd ditch the red pedals for white or black!

I hope you like your forks twisting with brakes and rotors like that!! Next upgrade should be a stiffer fork, it will feel like a noodle with a 203mm rotor on there under full power! Is the fork even recommended for a 203mm rotor?

    Lovely bike.
I wanted RZ120 to, but only available, for my budget was RZ 140.

    from the fox website. Disc

Disc brakes with 160 – 203 mm rotors can be used on FOX 32 mm forks. Do not use rotors larger than 203 mm. Install disc brakes and torque all fasteners according to manufacturer’s specifications.

never hurts to check though, thats for sure

you might find that the spider of the rotor rubs on the brake mount, not sure if its a problem on the 32, but it can be on other fox forks, there is also the shear power of such a large rotor and such a powerful brake tugging on the lowers, I simply can't express enough just how powerful that setup will be, even you are a big guy its overkill on a 120mm bike. with a less powerful brake I wouldn't worry, but the amount of power the new shimano brakes have has changed my perception of powerful brakes! I've gone down a rotor size in order to keep it under control, and the rear is still rediculously powerful with a 160mm rotor. Just my 2p but personally a 180/160 combo would be better.

Ice tech brakes are floating designs, the brake surface is attached to the alloy centre via rivets, which on the 203mm disc is quite large, much larger than the ones on the 180 or 160mm icetech rotors, some floating rotors of such a size rub on the brake mounts, there is little clearance, and the alloy carriers are thicker than normal rotors. This is the impression I get anyway, and I've heard of some floating brakes rubbing on the brake mounts, forcing owners to file down the brake mount. Like I say imo a 203mm rotor is overkill on a 120mm bike, regardless of your weight.

ur saying its overkill but what's the worst that can happen?

It throws you over the bars and injures you and prevents you from riding?! Its a possibility, the brake will feel more wooden and have less modulation, and given the XTR's can be grabby anyway a tiny pull of the brake on such a large rotor can have a massive effect... even the slightest touch of front brake on a wet root or rock will lock the wheel dead and it weighs more than a 180mm rotor, is also more expensive too... My point relates to just how powerful the XTR's are and the general use they will get, I wouldn't even want to use a 203mm rotor and XTR brakes on a DH bike let alone a 120mm bike, like I say its just my 2p

You now have me worried sir.... Im going to go to evans to pick the bike up later on, if its as sharp and crazy as ur saying i think im going to have to get a refund on the 203mm and get a 180.

Thanks for the heads up lawman

    Nice bike 8)

I've got a Rize 140 from 2008 it's still going strong. Well, technically the frame & cranks are still going strong everything else has been replaced :)

Keep a close eye on the shock link - the lower shock mount quickly goes ovalised if the bolt is not tight. Might also want to try removing the main pivot bolt before it corrodes in place.

BTW I ran a 203mm rotor on the front for one ride it was massively over-braked 180/160 is more than enough for what the bike is capable of.

    Enjoy!

I think your saddle is at a funny angle and your choice of a full grey jogging suit with black shoes is absolutely atrocious!

Well I would naturally say what a fine bike they are

I'd have changed out the high rollers for something else as there isn't a lot of clearance towards the lower pivot on the swingarm. I run 2.25 advantages which suit the bike well and leave enough clearance.

As a personal suggestion, I'm inclined to get a 15mm axle front fork, as I find the rest of the bike really stiff yet the front end likes to have a wander through rock gardens (worsened by the light wheels). Would compliment your desire to have powerful brakes better too and not a problem with the hope hubs you're using. Reba 120mm for less than £400 would make a bigger change than the transmission IMHO.

The person behind the bike isn't actually me as i would never wear tracksuits as I think its chavy hahah (no offence to anyone who does wear em)

Once evans put the new parts on I took it for a spin with all the new parts EXCEPT the xtr derailleur as it hasn't arrived yet and instantly fell in love with the bike. The handling, control and feel of the bike have completely changed, braking is just amazing and I love the fact that it can stop me(119kg) INSTANTLY (No joke)

Let me indulge you all in some bike porn :)

  • I think its a sweet bike but for me the dark green handlebars and red lock rings dont really look right with the bright green frame. Just my opinion though, sure plenty of people would disagree! Has it seen any dirt yet, cos it looks clean as a whistle except for the saddle!

The red/green thing is a great contrast but a bit marmite but it's what works for you! Should have kept the red pedals in which case to match the locks?

Can I suggest you get red or green pedal pins? Subtle but awesome!

Also, red or green anodised bar end caps and tire air caps!
