Just a heads up that we will have 500+ scouts walking 40 miles around the Chase on the 17th and on the 18th there's a round of the Midlands XCJ series http://midlandsxc.wordpress.com/ an MTB orienteering event http://www.walton-chasers.co.uk/wcheven ... sley-mtbo/ and some sort of run/ride event (although this could be the same thing! )

The official trails should be unaffected but there will be more people around on the shared trails + traffic etc

Balls. Oh well. Might still be worth the risk, but if SWMBO is with me, the family track would be the order of the day, and that's liable to be heaving.

A replan may be on the cards. Cheers for the heads up, Blitz!

The orienteering thing is near to Stile Cop but the orienteers have been warned not to take any short cuts across the DH runs

This is the third or fourth year the Scouts have done their 40 mile walk and if you stay on the official trails you won't know they're there. Just look out for the big groups if you venture over the North side.
