Hi guys,

I am considering getting this bike, any chance I can have your thoughts on it?

GT sensor 2.0 2010

I was initially looking at the Trance X2 2011, but I came across this which is a saving of £540 on the X2....but is a lovely high specked bike:

The reason why I'm considering this is due to the initial outlay and using the cyclescheme to fund the lions share of the payment....and I don't want to squander to much money if it goes tits up on the cyclescheme for whatever reason.

Only upgrade initially would be the brakes.....everything else is fine until it wears away and needs replacing.

So a saving of £400 after the new upgrade brakes purchase!

Do you think it's worth this saving going a year older and on not such a sought after bike?

Just your general thoughts on the dilema would be great in all honesty!

i have the sensor 4 and love it great frame and because of i drive they don't suffer from pedal bob , however you ll get most on here recommending the giant as they are a popular good bike but then so is the sensor and i like that i don't see many about unlike giant and specialised etc

Ye, it's a lovely looking bike with fox up front and at the rear.

The review from bikeradar was awful on it, but on the 2011 model it was a lot better and they hardly changed a thing apart from the colour lol.

I read two reviews which blow bike radars out of the water, but I also read a review by joe public who took that for a test spin along with a Trek ex 8 with two different riders, and the Trek was to pull away by 10m or so on climbs and descends with both riders in the saddle.......I believe it was a confidence thing in the fork, but supersonic recommended an upgrade to a 140mm....I think a Talas would be awesome on it.

If I upgraded the forks and brakes that would be my saving swallowed up.....but as you said I would have a different bike from everyone else hmmmmm

The frames the same as the top end 1.0 which goes for nearly 3 grand its definitely worth upgrading which ive started doing with mine. Id see how you got on with the fork thats on it . bikeradar etc are used to testing high end bikes and dont seem to rate real world bikes.

    Thanks for the reply!

Liking the pics on your sensor!

I noticed its a medium frame, how tall are you and how do you get on with the size?

And what have you upgraded so far?

Im 5ft 11 but i have short legs for my height 31 leg and it fits me well. Have a look around there where a few 2011 1.0 and 2.0 on the net for good prices in orange and blue. Mine has suntour raidon forks and a x fusion rear shock and im happy with them so far ill upgrade to fox probably when they die.
ive changed the tyres to nobby nic evo s which knocked a pound and a half off the weight, took the big ring off and fitted carbon bars. Its down to just under 31 pound at mo and ill be happy when i get it to 30!
Think the 2.0 your looking at starts at 31 anyway they are not the lightest bikes cos of the i drive sus but they ride great.
