When I pull my front brake the wheel still rotates a little but the disc stays still!!!!! Any ideas, then maybe I can fix it at home to save a trip to my LBS. Any help/info thanks.

    Loose disc. Tighten the bolts.

Loose spokes (is the hub moving) get the wheel retensioned.

    I've a similar problem....but mine's with a centre lock Shimano XT....

The play is caused by the rotor holes now being fractionally bigger than the mount "knobbles" over which the rotor sits. No amount of tightening will rid me of this issue (as I found out by overtightening and stripping the thread on the centre lock cap...thankfully a new one was only 8 quid).

There's no way the disc can fall off and it lock fine after turning very fractionally on brake application - but the play bothers me a little. Reckon this is safe?

I doubt you have that problem, what force is making the disc go back the 'other way', there shouldn't be one!

well...nothing I guess, unless I decide to ride switch....or hold the brake on and move the bike gently back and forth.

Did you tighten your disc bolts?

i'M NOT sure about the orginal poster, but mine is Centrelock....so you don't have bolts.

    Play between spider and disc?

yes. assuming the spider is the thing that you put the disc on before tightening...
