Stuck front wheel skewer
Hi,
Just wondered if anyone has any methods of dealing with a front wheel skewer that is stuck? I have been lucky enough not to get any punctures for a long time so the front wheel has not been removed.
I tried WD40 to see if this would free it but it doesn't seem to have worked.
Thanks

if you can't unscrew it by hand, get a big wrench or use a vice to hold the righthand 'nut' of the skewer
the nut can get corroded on, with some designs the outer shell may then just spin, if that's happend you can cut off the shell and get a wrench on the inner part - then you need a new skewermy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Right - this has the potential to scratch/ feck the skewer but as its stuck on there anyway:
Get a rag and wrap it around the skewer. Then get a big pair of pliers:
Get a mate/passing ho' to hold the bike.
Get the pliers and grab the base of the skewer - if you grab the top of the skewer it'll just bend and snap off leaving you with a bent/snapped skewer.
Using the force of 30 men, pull open the skewer.
Get seized skewer and throw it into next door's garden.
Use passing ho' bicycle holder to treat yourself as you have done a good job well. Your mate may not be so compliant, but hey, that's really up to you and your mate to discuss. Throw soiled ho'/mate into next door's garden.
Alternatively:
1. Get a hacksaw/Dremel and cut the roundy round end off - this will mean that there is no tightening action left and the skewer will just slide out. Throw it into next door's garden.
2. Cut the lever end off - again, same result as above. Throw skewer into next door's garden
3. Some skewers have a small screw/bolt that holds the lever on - undo this, the lever comes off, throw skewer into next door's garden.
Get new skewer, grease, replace, tighten properly.
Alternatively, tell the burd that bike is broken and that you need a new one, throw old bike into next door's garden and go and buy some new Ritte loveliness.
