First Club Ride

As seems customary I thought I'd share my experience of my first ride with the CRC.
Fantastic weather, really friendly people and a route/speed that they made sure was challenging for the newbie but not too over the top.
65 miles done and the legs weren't feeling too bad.
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
As with most on here I was apprehensive going along but really shouldn't of worried. Can't wait to get out again 8)

Excellent
Getting out on the first run is always the hardest bit.0 -
I'm thinking of going along to a weekend run with my local club soon, however they seem a bit racey for me...And I don't mean they ride round in skimpy underwear. The clubs website does say they ride at the slowest persons pace, however I can't see them waiting for someone on a 'taster' ride too much.
Did you go to your local clubs weekend runs for a look first? Or just dive into it?
The club I was on about is Walsall rcc just so's you know.Pain is a momentary lapse of character.0 -

Do the club not do various rides? I went on the slowest 'family' ride. Averages between 13-15MPH but the group leaderswere really good at setting the pace so that it was tough but not unmanageable.
I contacted someone on their website and then just went along yesterday. Really glad that I did.Glad you enjoyed it

Out of interest, how many were on the family ride? And did you note how many were on the longer rides?
Been toying with the idea of going on a club ride and CRC meet close to my house, but am wary about cycling in a group as I've always ridden solo. Also need to see about the distances and speed as I tend to do shorter distances (25-45 miles) but at higher average speed (16-18mph).0 -
S'great isn't it?
First club ride I did was buzzing.
Well, after I slept from 3pm till 6pm. Was HURTING.0
