I am upgrading my shimano centrelock rotors. I've always had 6 bolt hubs in the past. I have this cassette tool http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=7975 which seems to fit the lockring perfectly. Will this do the job? The ones I have looked at online specific to the rotor centrelocks seem to be deeper than this. Plus do i need a dab of loctite on the ring when re-fitting?

They are either cassette tools or external BB tools.

So if yours fits it will do.

When I fitted the 6 bolt discs I always used some loctite on the bolts. Is there any need for this on the threads of the centre lockring? I am amazed that that little tool I bought from CRC will also fit the centrelocks as some tools for this job online are £20 plus.

Just check that it works on the rear as some cassette tools are not deep enough to allow the lockring to engage on the hub threads. I didn't use loctite on mine and they show no signs of coming undone after a year of riding .

    Thread lock is not needed.

I have that tool and it works perfectly well for the front wheel however i had to buy a Park Tools tool to use on the rear wheel, the prongs on the cheap tool are not long enough to engage in the ridges on the lockring because of the way my hub was.

Buy the proper tool from Park and you'll only have to buy one (unlike me who now has 4 for being cheap).

If you have QR wheels then a cassette tool should be fine.
    I have this tool:
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lifeline-cassette-lockring-removal-tool/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=base&utm_campaign=uk&utm_content=LifeLine-LifeLine_Cassette_Lockring_Removal_Tool
and it fits my Shimano wheels with centre lock rotors fine, might be cheaper than a park one.

I think if you have 15mm or 20mm axles then I think it is the same tool as a BB tool.
