Can one of you whores please add me?

Got a feeling that all this fuss surrounding the girls in... threads is going to result in either the removal of the OT forums altogether (the owners don't really want them anyway) or they will be forced to be so heavily moderated nobody is going to post here anymore.

Nick, I know you're always on facebook. Get on it fella.

Unfortunately I reckon you might be right CWNT. If it happens I'll be signing up to Facebook, I'm not going to let a bunch of miserable tw@ts and feminists spoil my fun.

  • I just think it'll be the path of least resistance for the owners / operators.

You can't have people on a public forum such as this one screaming sexism. Even though their argument may hold no water in real life, if they shout loud enough future will proably comply to avoid the negative PR.

It'd be a bit ironic if they closed the commuting chat forum :-D. Anyhow, let's hope they take a pragmatic view based on how many hits (and advertising revenue) the O/T threads & forums generate.

what i don't get is that the main complaints are coming from people with relatively low post counts/newly registered members. why did they join if they don't like it?

so whats happening? have the hippy complaints reached the extent that they might have an effect?
  • I sincerely hope not.

Tbh, I'd not really be overly bothered at losing the Redhead, dark haired, blondes etc threads. I very rarely post in there anyway. Problem is though, I don't think it'd be able to just stop there. Most of the stuff we do/say in here would offend SOMEONE. If they've got to remove the threads, they have to remove everything else to balance.

Ideally the solution would be to simply tell these people clear warnings are in place, and if they choose to ignore them, it's their own problem (something I have stated repeatedly and been ignored because they don't have a comeback for it). But I'm not convinced that's how it'll pan out. I think it's far more likely that in the interests of pandering to the PC squad and avoiding the bad publicity the hairy-pitted lezzers would bring down on them, they'll opt to just fark it all off and have this place purely a cycling related board.

Hopefully though I'm over-reacting and the oners / admin will just thell them to take their clogs, skinny lattes and fixies and fark off.

The last post made yesterday by Sonic said that some sort of announcement would probably be made tomorrow about it.

funny thing is the girls in... actually started a facebook page when the forum switched from c+ to bikeradar, so no doubt the angry heads will be heading that way to shut down the whole of the internets. That means the only proper horny flesh we see will be if all stalk off down to Rhyl. :D

to be honest, i dont see the need for the "girls in.... "threads, the internet is full of porn so why not leave that out there and general arsing about in here?

that said, females comparing a few blokes oggling birds on the net to feeling unsafe in a public place is indicitaive to me that she feels guilty about enjoying being touched up in those situations previously.

just my deduction of course and i could be wrong, but i doubt it.

also, the cunt who started the thread because he wants to swear seems odd, it strikes me that he is struggling with homosexuality, to my mind, he avoids images of women on the net as when he is found looking at female images on the net it upsets his clearly dominant boyfriend/husband. maybe the presence of threads like those means his boyfriend wont let him look at bikeradar perhaps?

i think that people should feel free to be offended by images of women and equally free to be gay. Either way, i think those threads which objectify women should be banned and those forums which offer a division between sexes should also be banned.
  • I agree to an extent. It's a slippery slope though (like my obvious).

This sums it up perfectly I reckon:

Yeah, I'm still waiting to be added back to the facebook page too.

If they close the CC, that means I'll actually do some work at work! Or maybe go riding in my spare time!!! They're not thinking this through properly!

i think it would be for the best if they close the off topic forums such as commuting chat, cake stop, CC and women forum.

i think BR would have considerably more posts made then by the people who are avoiding the entire website because of those offending thread and forums and the advertisers will have their advertisements seen by considerably more people.
  • To be fair, I've been spending a bit more time over in cakestop lately as it's been fookin dead in here. It's actually pretty funny. The humour over there is a fair bit tamer, but they do have some good threads (girls in... threads notwithstanding).

I've also learned that Roadies think Commuters are just as wierd as we do. Who knew.

It's unfortunate they have to shave their legs and ride those silly bikes or I think we could all get along quite well. ;)

Can't say i'd be awfully bothered if the CC were to go. If it brough more interesting and active topics to the rest of the forum then that can surely only be a good thing.

If you want to be added to the FB page, you have to request to join.
We keep it closed due to some of the offending comments and posts and rest assured if any of these whining, dribbling, liberal cheesewands who are trying to kill the spirit of the [original BR] CC got in, they'd probably mail Mark Zuckerberg directly to complain.

Don't forget to edit the "So Just Who The F*** Are You" document. It's good to put a face to the CC member and will also keep those limp wrist liberals out too, yes the types who complain to the National Geographic Channel when see an elephant phallus or a monkey scratching it's nuts on television and also whine about this Forum..

Currently there are two admins, ProjectSome and my good self, if the FB page becomes more active, I'll add extra page admins. We had over 11 but with so many admins it become unmanageable with people making changes to Group settings etc.

If you cannot get into the CC, please contact me via FB or through this Forum and I'll see why you cannot get in.
Those who cannot get in should be able to contact me as I am reachable by some "degree of separation" as I am friends with a few CC members. My FB name is Raymond Wilson, so look me up and I'll sort it.

Really? I guess you love the forthcoming stimulating conversation in the Commuting section then?
I bet you have all the cartoon, comedy and adult channels blocked on Sky+

    Initials KS? If so, unblocked..
  • I had made several requests when the page was set up, they kept getting ignored. (you cnuts)

I was so offended by this I didn't bother doing anything about it until now.

Read the commuting forum twice, forgot it even existed. My point is the CC used to be a laugh but now it is pretty dead. If it stills puts people off the forum (not sure how but if it apparently does) then i'd rather the rest of the MTB forums were more active in place of this.

As said there is the CC facefark page for meaningless banter and rape jokes! (none of which i am offended by or anything btw)
  • I sort of agree with bennett.

As said before, this place has died a death of late, in both # of active users and total posts / active threads. Not sure if we're now officially so offensive people have stopped bothering to post here, or if it's something else (I know we lost a few people with all that downtime last year for the "upgrade".

Canis Lupus has also asked to join the FB page.

Go on, let us in, eh?

My view on the subject - it' good to have a fall-back strategy, but hopefully the mod team will leave the CC as is. Maybe add an entry restriction or requirement.

    <edit> Many thanks 8)

I shall now wait for one of you to kindly accept my liking the page :D
