Hi, I wanted a relaxed bike for commuting and came across the Cannondale Quick Cx at 50% off. Didn't like the stock 8sp, upgraded to 9. In addition it needed a cosmetic make over, and ended up replacing almost everything except the frame. Its also about 1kg-2kg lighter than stock.

With a little bit of fabrication you can make a bracket for the Road Racers to fit closer to the front wheel, I had the same issue on my Tricross. I used 2 I/O blanking plates from a PC case and drilled a hole where I wanted the bolt to pass through and trimmed the tab at the bottom for the cable tie to sit better.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Why not fit proper mudgaurds seeing as it has the eyelets for them? I'd only use the Cruds as a last resort.

yes I was thinking of the weight and easy on/off. Can you recommend some light conventional mudguards?

The SKS chromoplastic would probably suit. No doubt heavier than the Cruds but they would do the job much better. The weight wouldn't be much of an issue, though.

In my experience, the Road Racers are a pain to remove and refit. Although with that much clearance you're probably OK. I find they break easily if they get caught on things.
