Maybe a bit over budget, but the North Face Tadpole is incredible. Had one 15yrs before I replaced it last year. Light and has a Geodesic structure it's free standing (held up with the tension of own poles not guy lines) and therefore can be used easier on rocky ground.Swveeeet¡¡¡0

These are excellent for the price and only weigh 2.4Kg

Had one for 6 years it's never leaked and because of it's low profile stands up well to strong winds, you can just fit a frame and two wheels in the storage area if you remove the wheels first.0 -
thanks was looking at the Tadpole among others, would like the packdown size to be as small as poss , but then you get into big money.
Spose the other way to look at it is BB's cost £60 odd a night ...............a bike with round rubbery things

done a few camps and one thing id allways say if add 1 man to what you planning to buy.
So for a 1 man tent, buy a 2 man, the extra space is really important when you consider the kit you got.
also 1 man tents tend to be nothin more than "bivvie" size and arent great, you may as well buy a "bivvie" and a good sleeping bag as that going to be more confy and easyer to set-up than some of the tents i seen.
look for tents by vango they are very good
or get one of these..

I don't think you'll do better for that kind of money than one of these

Just over 1.5 kg for the 1 man or 1.8 kg for the 2 man. They have had great write ups - there's a long thread on the outdoors magic forums discussing them,
I picked up a Vango Helium 200 last year and have been impressed with it - light, stable and packs down really small. You can get the 1 man version for £130 at the moment - at just over a kilo, it's lighter than some bivvy bags
