Hurrah for the Selle San Marco Rolls saddle

As mentioned in another thread, I got a pretty mint and unused black rolls with steel rails for £25. I fitted it to the bike last night and went out for a couple of hours today. Id read about the 1st session being a bedding in session for the ole bum and leather cover , but to my delight, sitting on the rolls was extremely comfy from the start.Id noticed after using the charge spoon that towards the ride end, I could feel it in my thighs, after using the rolls , I could have gone out riding again. Sometimes you strike gold with a new purchase and I definitely think I hit the bullseye with the Rolls. Theres bound to be a reason why riders have been using the same one for durations in excess of 10 years. The Rolls is the polar opposite of the Fizik Arione, a saddle which a lot of riders absolutely love and a fair few who where left in agony after using them. Where the arione is bang up to date , I suppose the Rolls harks back to the days when race techs tuned motor bike engines by simply listening to them, instead of plugging in multi gas analysers like they do nowadays.
Theres a sweet satisfaction when a measly 25 quid buys you a pretty much mint2nd hand item and the product just simply works, no fuss, no drama and no worries.......hurrah for the Rolls.

There is life in the old designs. I have a Selle San Marco Concor saddle on both of my bikes and have used them for donkeys years.0

I washed my bike using the garden hose after the ride, I put a lunch bag over the saddle to keep the water off the leather, do I need to do this or is it safe to let the leather get soaking wet ?Unashamed to admit Ive zero time for Tory , Toff, In-bred , ex Public Schoolboys who are flushing our country down the crapper.0

Finding the right saddle is like a lottery win for a cyclist
Glad you went for it and like it!
I didn't get on with my Concor Light, I was gutted as it looked fantastic. Never tried a Rolls but I love my Fizik Aliante anyway...Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

I'll put it this way.. Do cows get damaged if you leave them out in the rain?
You have your answer.0 -

I try not to get my brooks saddles soaking. But one is on my mtb, so it gets very wet on occasion. If they get soaked, try not to dry it too quick.
Best to avoid it if you can.--

Gald you like the Rolls! As mentioned in the other thread, I have this type on 3 of my bikes, but on my other two, I use the Arione!
And you won't have to worry about keeping it dry, it's fine in the wet. A Brooks is a bit different though.0 -
