edited March 2012 in Road buying advice
Hi, I'm looking to spend around £2500 for a new roadie and weekend rides and the odd sportive. After also of searching, i've narrowed my search down to:
Canyon CF SLX 8.0 - 6.8 kgs - Dura Ace - Ksyrum Elite Wheels
Rose Xeon CRS 3100 - 7.3 kgs - Ultegra Di2 - Mavic Cosmic carbone Wheels
They are about the same price at a bit over £2500 and are both from german online distributers. If anyone has any advise on which bike is better and which one i should spend my hard earned money on i would appreiciate. Lots to discuss here. Dura Ace vs Ultegra Di2. Kysyrum Elite vs Cosmic Carbone. Canyon vs lesser know Rose....

Canyon frame is really rated and the specs of both is great

Have you checked out lead times though, an SLX 8.0 in a 54 has and ETA of well into the summer, could be the deciding factor?

Other real decider is do you want to go electronic...very tempting although for me I thing I'd be happy with the Canyon Frame and DA.

The lead time is a factor, but looks like it's only the Compact - Stealth version that is in pretty short supply. i'd be happy to go for a double. According to the PPS sizing system, i'd need a 52 frame which is available immediately. Tough call though!

Both Rose and Canyon are highly rated, obviously it is difficult getting the opportunity to try them out. If you get the right size neither would probably disappoint.

Recently got the Canyon. It is a joy to ride. Earlier today, in the Spring sunshine I did a 60 miler around the Chilterns, where it flies up the hills. It weights 2KG less than my previous bike, which is a big help on the hills. Just make sure you get the frame size right.

Thanks for comments guys. I'm almost 100% going for the canyon now, i've just got to decide on the colour.Which colour did you go for ck99? My current bike is a Spec Allez which is about 10kg, so if the canyon is actually 6.8kg, i'll be flying around with 3.2kg less baggage.

White (Team) Colour. I did a recent post re buying the Canyon (the one where everybody took the pis* out of my saddle bag!) I posted a pic. My obsessive cycling friend swears that white is the only colour as it makes you think the bike is lighter. Hmmmm......

ahh yes, i did see your picture. funny comments! Although the saddle bag is very practical, it is a bit like putting a tow bar on a ferrari.

Make sure you've examined the geometry of both.... I keep seeing a guy on a gorgeous Carbon Cayon here in Brizzle and the fit is atrocious (he's got a crazy long body and short legs), he looks like he could do with a 140mm stem. Anyway, it's a bugger if you get it wrong.
