External BB cup catches on rear triangle pivot
gtd.

I have an '99 Carrera Hellcat that has a 73mm bb shell. I was planning on fitting an external cup bb, but for the cups to clear the rear suspension pivot bearing caps I need to use 2 spacers and a thin <1mm spacer on the non drive side. The drive side clears without spacers.
Would this be ok or am I limited to square taper/powerspline/Octolink/ISIS internal bottom brackets

It depends on the cranks.
But it may be better looking at a 83mm BB set up BUT you may be short of threads in the frame.
But then the chain line may be way off as it could be with the set up as you say."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Another [more drastic] solution would be to grind a crescent shape in the tophat bolt to accommodate the nds bearing cup.0

Id have machined the caps down but its not just the cap its the part of the frame the pivot bearing sit in that is the problem, machining the cap will only remove 1-1.5mm.
Where the bearing sits comes out about 5mm just above the bb on the non drive side on the drive side it is flush with just the cap protruding
I'll take a picture in the morning.Mountain: Orange Patriot FR, SubZero & Evo2LE.
