steel frames

Can someone explain to me the virtues of a steel frame over an aluminium one please. i`m looking at getting a 140mm ish trail hardtail and quite like the look of the Kinesis xc130 or a Ragley piglet, i know the head angle is a bit slacker on the piglet but whats the difference between the two frame materials......
