Brake Cabelling

Having some problems getting my new brakes working correctly.

In the middle of converting my Giant Road to TT runner, I have an Aero bar with Campag bar end brakes, but I just cannot seem to get the brakes to work correctly, I have run the cables but when ever I pull on the brake levers they do engage but not release at the brake, bit frustrating any comments, pearls of wisdom, or just have I been stupid somehow?

Try undoing the cable from the brake clamp and see if it is a cable issue or a calliper issue for starters. Squeezing the callipers together by hand should see them open up quite forcefully on the return spring. Assuming those are ok then hold the end of the cable and squeeze the levers. Pull the cable ends as you release the levers.

How to fix them will depend on the results. Are all parts and cables new??

As suggested, first check for sticky calipers or sticky cables. Check that the cut-ends of outer cable liner is opened-out with pointed tool. The problem with many TT builds is the convoluted cable runs and tight bends that cause lots of cable drag - one of the few options is to use a sectional cable like Nokon as they are inherently more flexible and can accommodate tighter turns.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

All parts and cables are new, calipers are not sticky since whebn I checked managed to get my finger nipped, vicious thing. The cable run is good, pretty straight from the bars, the internal of the aero's is good and the distance to the front brake is shor where it exists, same for the back.

What sort of calipers are they? Could the springs have failed and so don't push the lever's back?

The front and rear calipers spring back and forth very happily without the cable attached, and with my old road bars on they worked very well.

I'd have a good look at how your cables are attached at the brake lever end then. Are they routed correctly through the lever??

Also about the cable ends... Did you get Campagnolo specific inners? The cable mushroom ends are different sizes.

The cables came with the levers, good deal on them, and they go straight into the levers. My concern I think is with the bullhorn TT bars, then again if they were not designed with cables in mind and the routing, guess they would not be popular.
