Like Giraffoto I am also the proud owner of a ridiculously bright Hardrock, reading that post earlier made me laugh! would have got the black and white one but couldnt find a shop on the cyclescheme that had a 19" in stock but they all had loads in red, funny that! Got it in the sales, after tax adjustment it will cost me the princely sum of £260
But I have grown weary of the retina burning colour so changed the stem and grips for black items. The stem is from a rockhopper, the grips are superstar lock ons. Also fitted a 31.8mm race face evolve bar, black Octane One Static pedals which are a bit on the small side for my size 9 feet :? and black smica bar ends.
Giraffoto if you are reading this just some advise u may want to swap the bar (unless you are ok with it!) couldnt belive how heavy it was when I got it off ,weighed a ton! Swapping it for something better will save a fair bit of weight upfront for minimal outlay. And the pics below should give you an idea of what yours will look like with a black stem.
Anyway just trying to tone down some of the crazy redness by adding more black, fork is next I want to upgrade it anyway and would like a black recon or reba when the right deal comes along i.e something cheap, possibly even a Epicon??

Hahaha thought Id take Giraffotos lead and post some more snowy pics, its all about the contrast!!! The snow makes it look worse but trust me it is very red indeed. My 7yr old son calls it 'Santas bike' :-)0

Red is the right colour - best looking bike ever! I've already swapped the stem for a black one, and the forks will be next in a month or so, but it will still be red enough for most purposes. The weight of the handlebar is quite surprising - I've never had it stripped down to just the bar in my hands so I've not felt the weight of it on its own. Shame, because it's a perfect shape.
You missed one mod out - that odd piece of clear plastic has gone from the chainring. Specialized must put it there to give you something to take off and feel like you've personalized your bike, I can't think of any other use for itSpecialized Roubaix Elite 2015

Wait till you replace the forks and see how much those bad boys weigh!
Too much colour matching again from spesh. Wheels and fork is too much. Nice frame colour though and the bars and stem are a step in the right direction but its a shame it needs all this money throwing at it so early on!0 -

An additional point to consider is what you get for your money. Now, I'm slightly ahead of the game here because my example came with Rockhopper gears, but adding an improved fork such as a Recon then puts the spec roughly on a par with the top of the range Rockhopper - there's probably not much in it apart from the brakes. Even if you don't have the bonus of the SLX mech/shifters, it's still on a par with the mid-range Rockhopper, and probably has a better fork. So you end up with an equivalent bike to what you'd have got if you paid the extra up front (assuming you stick with Specialized, by the way)Specialized Roubaix Elite 2015

Don't get me wrong mate , I like the bike. Just look in my Sig, I own one
This is why I know how much the forks weigh. For instance my new 150mm revelations on my bfe weigh around 1800 grams grams uncut steerer. The 80mm suntours I took off my hardrock sport disc came in at 2550 grams.0 -
To add another point of view
I had a 2010 Boardman Pro Hard Tail which cost me a grand plus about £300 extra on upgrades (which admittedly were not neccesary, I was on a mission to fit Ritchey WCS everything)
I sold it for some cash at Christmas to by the missus an extra nice pressie and spoil the kids, was a nice feeling to have xmas all wrapped up and payed for :-)
In all honesty I think the Hardrock is just as good for my riding needs, now Im not saying its better and you do notice the difference in weight but its not all that bad! BUT the only thing I really miss is the Reba Race on the Boardman. The difference between the way the bike feels up front with the Suntour on the HR is night and day, and thats without the massive weight saving. So I will upgrade the fork as I know just how much better a plush air fork feels, and the weight saving is the bonus.
Funny but I was dubious about cable disc brakes as the Boardman had Elixer R's but they are not all that bad, Im quite impressed so far.0 -
Yep, still got bb5's on mine. Just gotta make sure they are set up right and they will do the job. My adjustment knobs are getting a bit stiff now so I reckon I will strip em down and clean em but I wont be upgrading them.0

That's an amazing figure, and has given me another reason to change the fork! Especially since my current one will be fractionally heavier (longer steerer in the 23" frame). I have a feeling this is going to transform the bike . . .Specialized Roubaix Elite 2015
