I am most offended by this thr......... oh sod it, even I'm bored of that one now.

I think it depends on the context of "friends". There are women at work I'd consider to be "work friends", then there are the "wifes friends", and the WaGs of friends. But women I'd consider to be "mates" (in the non-biological terms), can't think of any.

One of my best friends is a girl(!), we are now both married to other people, and have known each other for 20+ years.

Lots of people find it strange that there is no underlying chemistry, especially as she is stunning, (as am I obviously ), but we have grown up together, and only see each other as friends. I suppose she's more the sister i never had.
