bracket. If I hold a pedal and wiggle it I can see the other pedal arm moving inconjunction with it.

How do I tell if it's borked or not?

Disappointing thread.....

Tighten it up a bit and see if the play goes away....

Was still the best thread title in a long time, I haven't been so disapointed since I tuned into Loose Women.

If it's a sealed cartridge BB, and there's 'waggle' then it's shot - they are effectively disposable and not designed to be serviced.

Perhaps a soupçon less awesome in future - first the hub bearings, then the axles, now this :)

Sounds like the whole bike's busted. There's only one course of action.

Sounds like a bit too much awesome. Ask Sir Chris what BB he uses and then get the upgrade to that.

He uses granite bearings in a diamond shell, carved by Thor himself.

Actually, I think it's more likely something expensive and ceramic...

The BB is original and outlasted a few wheels and a frame...

It's had a fair attempted at coping with raw power awesome.

I assume fixing it sooner rather than later is advisable?

    This.

It could be worse. You might have knackered the threads in the BB shell, leading to retapping or relining of the BB shell. Big joy there.

Before it seizes, yeah, I would.

BTW, how is the BB 'original' if it's outlasted the frame? If it's a basic square taper JIS cartridge, just ditch it and get another, they are about £15.

The frame cracked while still in warranty (a manufacturing fault) and the whole bike was swapped over, I assumed this would include the bottom bracket

Also had this: chainstay failed. Got given a new bike, plus the old components. Definitely a new BB.
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?
