Non trail-centre routes around Peebles
Got 4 days in Peebles coming soon, mainly focussed on Glentress and Innerleithen, but we hope to do a long day ride that isn't at a trail centre
Anybody got any good route suggestions? Something pretty mountainous if possible, and it will need to be circular, but we will have cars so can start anywhere within a reasonable distance.

3 Brethren Cairns was a good ride. Just dont make the same mistake as me. Not knowing the route I just headed up following the markers. Ended up climbing all the fun stuff and riding down the fireroads  If I did it backwards it would have been great!0

There's a decent set of footpaths around Peebles - a guide available for £1 at tourist info. I've walked a few of these and I guess they're all suitable for MTBs being mainly tracks and open hillside. There's the "John Buchan Way" between Peebles and Broughton (nice cafe) which is also MTB-able.
Or from Innerleithen you can get onto the Sustrans route (76?) but this isn't circular unless you're going around Edinburgh and Berwick!0 -
Thanks for the replies. We ended up doing a ride off the singletrack world website, a nice ride up through Cadrona forest to birk's hill (think these names are right!) then a great run along the ridge to a downhill to Gypsy's Glen, which was very fast.
Have to go home today unfortunately.2011 Canyon XC 8.0 (Monza Race Red)
