Now then,

Coming home yesterday after a lovely ride with brand new wheels I'm just picking up speed down a gentle hill. Early spring daffodils were waving in the breeze below a pale blue sky. Got up to about 35km/hr when a large ginger cat decides to run across the road right in front of me. I hit it square in the midriff. Both of us went down, though the cat got up a hell of a lot faster than I did.

All in all, I got off lightly. Two bruised hips, banged-up elbow and a sore shoulder. Two scraped shifters, scratched Giro helmet and a scuffed rear wheel skewer (the bike fell on top of me, drive chain side up). First time my head's ever hit the ground, so a bit unnerving.

Looked for the cat to see if it was alright, so I could throttle it, but the furry little fecker had legged it.

I'm calling it a draw....

    Quite right too - if you'd have been killed then who would have come on here to tell us that the bike is pretty much ok!! :lol:

    That looks a bit like the big furry [email protected] that I hit! (The cat, not the bloke).

    Except the one I hit will now have a 25mm wide tread pattern up one side...

    Didn't get too much as I was fully clothed in bib-longs and soft shell jacket. Really pleased that this wasn't trashed as it wasn't cheap.

    Another [email protected] night's sleep though - because of bruises on both hips I have to lie on my back all night and if I roll I wake up. I can tell you, T.M.H.N.E.T, I was tossing all night......... :wink:
