Has anyone taken part in any of the events Evans hold?
I have been looking on their website and they seem pretty good.
If you have been on one or thinking of doing one please post below.
Would like to know what they are like and maybe find some one who would like to enter a ride with me

Did one last year at Cannock just to see what it was about. Can't say I would bother doing another, just not really sure what I was paying for exactly, the way marking?
I rode on my own as all my mates were busy, I ride on my own a lot though so that shouldn't have made any difference. Feed stations were a handful of those mini flapjacks/brownies you get in the plastic boxes at Tesco. Was good (I guess) to ride different bits of Cannock to just the trail centre and made me think that I should just take the OS map next time I go and see what I can find. I haven't bothered doing that though.
Best thing about it was the cheap inner tubes I bought at the end.0 -
thanks for your input,
Im thinking of doing the woking one on the 24th0 -
I've ridden several of these in the last couple of years, usually do the medium distance but have done 1 of the long rides. Always found them to be really good rides, well signposted with decent support from the people at Evans, if you have a GPS you can usually download the route a few days before the ride. They usually use schools as HQs so there's plenty of parking, toilets etc, they usually have a couple of hosepipes on the go for bike cleaning duties and you can get some decent food (hot and cold) and a nice cup of tea. All in all I'd say a decent package for £12.50...they were doing a 3 for 2 offer a while back...not sure if it's still on though.
No, I don't work for Evans neither am I affiliated to them in any way I just think that we should give positive feedback when warranted.'Hello to Jason Isaacs'0 -
Brilliant, Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I am going to book the woking event for the 24th and see how it goes.
It doesn.t cost alot so Ill take a punt.0 -

Am booked on that one too. The start/finish point is only around 2 miles from where I live so will be adding 4 miles to the 25 already signed up for. Am looking forward to finding some new routes I can use after the event.0 -
I'm doing the Woking one. I like the routes because they provide a change of scenery from my local routes without having to think too hard or map read.
The woking one, I recall, was not too bad at all in terms of climbing etc....one of the easier ones. But does take in some nice heathland.0 -
I'm thinking of doing the Callender one it rates the climbs as a 4 do you recon my boy who's 9 would be able to cope (not sure if his unfit dad will either tbh!)opinions are worth exactly what you pay for them ;-)
2012 boardman team F/S tarting has begun..
1992 cannondale m1000 still going just0 -
depends on how fit he is and how long you want to spend doing the ride. 4/5 is quite challenging. I am reasonably fit and the brighton ride (which I think has similar climbing) wore me out...although i did ride too and from the event as well (add 14 miles to the medium ride)0

quite challenging... not sure if thats a good idea for him (or me) i think ill wait till hes a bit older - will do an easier(less hills) route for us!opinions are worth exactly what you pay for them ;-)

That said...I reckon the short ride would probably be fine.0
