    Seems the winds split it up.

    Doubt it'll last.

    The wind will become a headwind for the last 50 odd km, so I can't really see it staying away, what team in that front group is going to ride - are they all really that scared of Valverde?

    And Valverde is now with them anyway. I suppose Boonen may want them to stay away, but I can't see it.

    Oh dear.

    Suggested a festinagirl tweet might be wrong.

    Thinking this isn't worth the bother.

    That's a massive schoolboy error for Valverde #parisnice

    @RickChasey
    @festinagirl the inevitable 'school boy error' comment when there's a cross-wind peloton split ;) s'not shoolboy if they all do it sometimes

    I wouldn't bother tangling with her, she's not very open to anybody elses opinions.

    @festinagirl not everyone can be at the front! It happens to all the big names occasionally - enough that it's not 'schoolboy'. That's all

    @festinagirl
    @RickChasey agree riders are often caught out & there's not enough space for everyone but it's still an error (if not 'schoolboy') ;)

    I'll take that as a victory.

    For good twitter updates you want the quick-step twitter feed and (if you speak dutch) the sporza feed.

    They do a good job.

    Can't imagine they'd want to do anything other than just monitor the gap and stop the break winning by any more than a couple of minutes.

    Basso and Mollema have quit.

    Boss is out so can listen too.

    Belgians suggesting Wiggins needs to be chattier in interviews, especially since his French is pretty good.

    He was also apparently saying that he thinks the worst parcours is behind him...

    Peloton looking very stretched - maybe a repeat of stage 2 on the cards?

    Think that's more because it's twisty.

    Belgians suggesting sky have taken it up far too early far too soon, and that could cost riders who would be useful in M-SR like Thomas.

    They clearly don't get the English mentality ;) >>>> FRENCH STAGE RACES FIRST, THE REST A DISTANT SECOND

    I thought Thomas was skipping the classics this year to concentrate on the track anyway? So basically...

    OLYMPICS FIRST > FUNNY LITTLE RACES IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES, USUALLY WON BY DOPERS A DISTANT SECOND!

    Like the Belgian commentators are even aware of Thomas' "piste" desires, especially after he put in a good ride under their noses in Dwars Door Vlaanderen and the Ronde.

    Their logic would be "why would anyone give that up for the team pursuit?"

    Veuchelen's hanging out the back of the group like he's a sky sports pundit.
