Hi - I've been really struggling to sort out a problem with my rear shock. It's a Fox Float RP2 on a Commencal Meta 55 frame. The problem is my bike creaks under pedalling. (And this is definitely from the shock - I have just replaced BB, crankset, chain and cassette so not drivetrain.) Previously the bottom bush in the shock was worn so I replaced this a month ago. However there is still play at the base of the shock. When I remove the shock I notice that the axle which attaches the shock to the frame is not a good fit and has play on the shock. It has a mm or two of play in it. Is this a problem - I suspect that maybe the inside of the reducers might be slightly worn.
Current bikes:
Norco Sight 3 SE (on order)
Specialized Allez 2010

Old bikes:
Commencal META 55 custom build (Stolen :( )
Boardman HT Comp 2010
GT Avalance 1.0 2006(ish)

    Axel? Bolt? Pics?

    Replace the worn bit.

Well that's the issue - is it likely to be the reducers or the axle that's worn? And is a little play normal. Below is the pic of my shock with an arrow (best I could do I'm afraid) of where the issue is.

Generally when the bush is worn you can lift the bike from the seat gently up and down and feel/see the movement in the bushing. It could be the case that the bushing is already warn again. You can buy a new shock mounting kit with new bolt and bushing etc fairly cheaply. BETD and TF Tuned both sell kits.

When it's been worn on mine it doesn't make a noise. Are you sure it's not your seat making the noise?
