Hi everyone,

I'm going to replace my shimano XT crank with a new truvative XO crank on a trek 9.8. The bottom bracket is GXP / BB92. My question is; can I use my new crack without changing the bottom bracket? The bottom bracket seems to be just fine, it just needs some grease.

From what I can see the truvative fits, but I want to be sure before I go ahead and start to ride the bike ;)

Regards,
Alexander

No, Hollowtech BBs and GXP BBs have a different inside diameter, as the crank spindle is different, you'll need a new BB.

  • I forgot to mention.. This is the press-fit type bottom bracket.

Confusingly they're not press-fit like On Ones or whatever, they just have drop in bearings, which you need to get from Trek. They do different sizes for GXP and HT2 and do steel and ceramic.
